RURAL FORGE GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION

Please join us to celebrate the opening of the first rural forge In Jefferson, Iowa!

The community of Jefferson and Pillar Technology, part of Accenture Industry X.0, are hosting a grand opening of the first rural Forge.

A Forge is a unique destination where Accenture collaborates with organizations on using advanced digital technologies to transform businesses. At the new facility in Jefferson, the company will also help prepare the future workforce for the digital economy by providing local community college students with commercial software development training – as physical products become services, and the value shifts from hardware to software.

You are invited to join us as we celebrate a collaboration that not only helps rural Iowa residents acquire the skills necessary to master high value tech jobs, but that encourages them to stay put, thereby utilizing these skills right in the heartland.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm — Forge Open House Tours—204 E. State St. – Experience the Forge via a guided tour, learn more about this state-of-the-art technology facility and how it positively impacts our community by helping prepare the future tech workforce – right here in the heartland.

4:00 pm and 5:00 pm — Parent/Teacher Information Sessions held at the Sierra theatre, located next to the Forge.  Representatives from Accenture, Corteva Agriscience, ICCC, & DMACC will present information on scholarship opportunities available in association with the opening of the Forge. Any 7th-12th grade student/parent will not want to miss this opportunity to learn more about this unique educational opportunity and how to plug in to the learning pathway.

5:00 pm — Join us for a Free Community BBQ on the Courthouse square.

7:00pm — The Main Event at the Greene County Courthouse Square in downtown Jefferson gets underway. Bring your lawn chair and grab a seat for this special presentation. Be a part of history as rural Iowa emerges as the premiere destination for creating digital solutions.

THE RURALIST: WINTER 2019

It’s the official last day of winter (amen!) and we’re celebrating with a new class of Ruralists. Like those who have come before, we’re showcasing top-shelf representatives of rural living. From coast-to-coast, we’ve hit the gravel, the internet, and our Rolodexes to find those a bit off the beaten path who you should know.

These dreamers and doers who are evoking positive change in their rural communities. From launching non-profits to establishing mobile businesses to outmaneuver the limitations of small-town brick and mortar buildings, this class encompasses all that is wonderful about rural America.

Our goal by highlighting these honorable rural citizens is that their goods might inspire other good deeds therefore elevating the goodness to every crevice and corner of rural America.
